My sister visited me one afternoon because she is worried about her daughter. She said that my niece came home one day crying very hard. Other popular lice treatments are using olive oil or tea tree oil for head lice removal. While some people claim that mayonnaise can help control lice infestation if applied topically.

Aside from the home remedies, there are also chemical treatments for lice removal. There are shampoos and crème that you can use to remove head lice. Pediculicides are medications that kill head lice. When using this kind of treatment one has to follow the physicians’ instruction carefully as these kinds of treatment are considered very harmful if used incorrectly.

Shaving the head or cutting the hair extremely short can be used to control lice infestation. Baldness or having short hair is generally seen as preventive measure to remove lice infestation. However, it is not suggested that children have their heads immediately shaved because it might cause adverse psychological effects. This could be considered as the last resort if the lice infestation is extreme.
